about
The long time missing underground artist Jo Yonderly has finally been found! After years of searching, the man behind the mystical and enchanting demos that reached the Rama Lama HQ some time ago have been tracked down in Malmö, Sweden. This with great help from Djoana Djones who is currently making a documentary about the journey, the third teaser is available now. 'Big boys cry and small men are violent', a track with an almost haunting soundscape, is the third track to be taken from his forthcoming debut album 'Greatest Hits 1.0'.
'Big boys cry and small men are violent' was the first track to be recorded for the album, and just like on 'Dead inside the inside' Jo Yonderly produced, recorded and played everything on it himself. Something that, in his own words,"good or bad" resulted in a very lonely process with the track. The track is influenced by both Billy Idol and grunge, Yonderly tells us Idol was an underlying influence when recording the track and that he now when listening back to the track and especially the chorus gets reminded of when he as a kid first started playing guitar and listened a lot to Nirvana.
‘Greatest Hits 1.0’ is the first collection of songs from an artist that isn’t afraid of experimenting with different styles, resulting in an eclectic mix that straddles the line between control and chaos with ease in an interesting way. The sound is something you’d imagine to be a classic, but hard to define from what decade, or could it even be from the future? All the way from the opening explosive track 'Dead inside the inside' to the dreamy closer 'Chemical cuddle', Jo Yonderly takes us on a captivating musical journey thematically and lyrically built around "the absence of mental health".
Big boys cry and small men are violent is out now on all platforms and ‘Greatest Hits 1.0’ will be out April 23 on limited vinyl through Rama Lama Records (Melby, Steve Buscemi's Dreamy Eyes, Guds Pengar, Kluster B, Loaver, Julia Rakel, Gula Blend etc.).
